Our Story
Rooted in Raheny
Raheny’s story reaches back to the Iron Age, at least, with the first church in the 500s. Across generations, this place has grown while holding close the character of a village: comfortable homes and dozens of local businesses on well-kept streets, shared landmarks, and a strong sense of community and belonging.
This site brings together local history, practical community information, and a few pointers to opportunities to take part in the life of Raheny.
And if you’d like to explore, there is the Raheny Way, a set of walks from the rail / DART station through the village and around Bull Island, the Raheny Heritage Trail, a booklet-guided walk around 21 historical sites, and most visibly the 15 Heritage Property plaques around the village (14 of which are part of the Heritage Trail too, along with Walmer at the Hospice) arranged by Raheny Business Association and Raheny Heritage Society.
WHERE ARE WE
Raheny is an extensive coastal suburb of the city of Dublin in Ireland, centred around an old country village. It lies four to over five miles (6.5 to over 8 km) from the city centre on a (north) easterly main road, the Howth Road, which goes to the historic Hill of Howth (Binn Eadair), at the northern end of Dublin Bay, some miles beyond. The latitude is 53°23′ North and the longitude 6°10′ West.

Our Purpose
Keeping Raheny Connected
We believe a strong local place is built through shared memory, open information, and simple ways to join in.
Whether you are researching the area’s past, looking for a local update, or hoping to meet others who care about Raheny, this is a starting point for connection.
“A village spirit, shared across generations.”
